VBF’s BACKGROUND

Vision for Bright Future (VBF-UMUCYO)

Vision for Bright Future (VBF) is a Rwandan national Non-Governmental Organization (Nation NGO) working to overcome holistic poverty and unlock sustainable development in rural communities. VBF works together with BUGESERA District authorities to deliver community-led programs for households enrolled in the national poverty graduation strategy. Since July 2024, VBF has trained and mobilized community Savings Groups, equipping members with mindset transformation, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship skills that move vulnerable families from dependency toward dignity and self-reliance.

What We Do: Strategic Focus Areas

Economic Empowerment & Financial Inclusion: Savings Groups, financial literacy, and income-generating activities that build household resilience and reduce dependency on aid.
Mindset Transformation, Gender Equality & Social Cohesion: Empowered Worldview training, women's leadership and rights, positive parenting, trauma healing, and family-strengthening programs that shift harmful gender norms and restore dignity and unity, with special focus on single mothers and women-headed households.
Child Protection, Youth Development & Education: Rights advocacy for children, talent and sports development for youth, and links between vulnerable children and donors to sustain their education.
Environmental Resilience & Local Infrastructure: Climate-smart agriculture and conservation alongside support for vocational training centers, markets, ECD centers, and schools that anchor long-term local development.

VBF-UMUCYO’s cause

Vulnerable families below the poverty line, women and single mothers/women-headed households, persons with disabilities, children and youth, refugees, and street children.

Our Approach

VBF applies a Community Capacity Enhancement (CCE) approach, working through BUGESERA District structures, the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF), and the national social registry (IMIBEREHO) to identify and support households in the government’s poverty graduation strategy. This locally led model ensures transparent beneficiary targeting, strong government buy-in, and sustainable, community-owned outcomes.
